Abstract
This chapter gives a brief history of the 20-year development of Moodle, an open-source learning platform that is used in countless ways across the world in all sectors, including two-thirds of higher education institutions. It examines how the Moodle learning management system, and a suite of related projects such as MoodleNet and Moodle Educator Certification, can be effectively used to support sustainable development projects, and how, as an Open EdTech project, it can help inform the development of the Open Education infrastructure of the future.
